Congratulations to Yasmin Ajmal, Lola Cashman, Angela Frankland, Wanda Grzegorczyk, Kembra Healy and Sue Hunter for being selected for the Middlesex Women’s John’s squad.
At the beginning of every season invitations are sent out to county-badged players and up-and-coming bowlers to trial for the John’s team. During the trials players are marked by a team of selectors on numerous aspects of the game. “It is an honour, privilege and great achievement to be selected for the county team, as it considers the players to be amongst the top players in the whole of the county”, says Jo White, NLBC member and one of the selectors for the county.
In the John’s Trophy 24 players for each team are playing at the same time. The county is divided into eight zones and the winner of each zone proceeds to the National finals at Royal Leamington Spa.
North London is also proud to have two women, Angela Frankland and Wanda Grzegorczyk, further selected to play in the Walker Cup. This is an inter-county competition played in a Top Club format (i.e. one fours, one triples one pairs and a singles).
A special thank you to Jo White who has continually encouraged and supported NLBC women to become involved in bowling at the county level.
