Step 1: using scarifier to remove thatch

Step 2: using aerator to remove soil plugs of 2-3 inches leaving a regular pattern of small holes all over (hollow tining)

Step 3: cleaning up the plugs

Step 4: spreading grass seeds

Step 5: applying four tonnes of top dressing ie fine sand

Step 6: using a drag mat to push the top dressing and the seeds into the holes

Now we need rain to make the seeds germinate!

No cutting is done for two to three weeks, only light swishing if worm casts appear.
